This week on the show we have some very special guests! Straight from the NYC, we’ve got Robin and Hari from Smash Bros. Live! Not only do they organize Smash Bros. events, they perform the music live along with the action! They’re here to chat about creating musical arrangements, competitive fighting games, and who their dream Smash characters would be. It’s a fantastic discussion which leads to next week’s topic… can you guess what it is?
Smash Bros Live is the ultimate celebration of music and video games. We pair an open Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tournament with live band arrangements to fuel the excitement and thrill of matches. Our events are full of crowd cheering, door-prize giveaways, and of course sudden death madness. The band chooses energetic and thrilling songs from the Super Smash Bros multiverses, and games our audience loves. They recently returned from presenting a panel at Magfest entitled “How to bring your Video Game Music Event to Life.”
Robin Wong is a NYC-based musician and creative technologist blending flute, synthesizers, and immersive soundscapes. Specializing in improvisation and live performance, they fuse electronic and acoustic elements with cutting-edge tech like AI and projection mapping to create interactive experiences where audiences engage and shape the moment.
Hari Nandu is an electric solo bassist living in the heart of the lower east side of Manhattan. Hari’s style blends elements of jazz and classical music drawing inspiration from artists such as Michael Manring, Damian Coccio, Jeff Schmidt and Jesús Rico Peréz. Hari enjoys playing both 5 string bass and the fretless Zon Hyperbass.
