It’s nearly Halloween, so Rob and Pernell get in the mood with some music from spooky and scary video games! That’s the plan anyway, Pernell comes up with his own episode theme. Your hosts talk about their favorite horror movies, and crack jokes at their listeners taking part in the live stream!
Join us on a deep-dive exploration of cave related music! Creepy caverns, dangerous dungeons, and um.. uh… murky mines? Pernell’s tracks make Rob feel like he’s in a chill and romantic underground grotto, hanging with all of his magical friends with none excluded. Keep listening for the Bonus Round part of the show, it’s an awesome one this week!
You’re training hard, but there isn’t enough time to show everyone? That’s when you need a montage! We’re talking tough-hard-hitting music for boxers to work out to. But we’re also talking about fun, harmonica-filled jams for the end of a 90s sitcom. Like Family Matters. What if that actually was Carl Winslow helping out Bruce Willis in Die Hard?
It’s been a long week, so we hit the freestyle button and listen to game tunes with no topic restrictions.
Okay, where did I put that password. Is it in the back of the game’s manual? Is it on a post-it note stuck to my Gameboy? Oh there it is, of course! I had it tattooed on Pernell so I would never lose it!
No, this isn’t the last episode of the podcast, but with all these ending themes you just might not be so sure. This episode features songs with real emotion, sadness, and even humor. No really, stick around for the bonus round, it gets real funny real fast!
We’ve got an extra special episode for you this week! This one is all about games with movie adaptations. And to make this journey extra special, we’re joined by a very special guest, Mustin! Mustin is a long time member of The OneUps band, founder of Bad Dudes, lover of video game music, and all around excellent guy.
What a weekend! Rob and Pernell present the show to a live audience at Too Many Games! Too Many Games is a 3 day long classic video game convention featuring panels, concerts, and a huge arcade. Enjoy the fun!
To celebrate the new movie Wonder Woman, Rob and Pernell focus on games with strong female protagonists. There is lots of jazz, and argument discussion about the Final Fantasy series. We also form the first emo-jug-band, which is way cooler than it sounds.
Last night a DJ saved my life with a 1-up! Our next two episodes will “club music” focused, with this episode being dance music. We’re talking four-to-the-floor beats, massive sub-woofers, and all the glow-sticks you can eat! We also talk about dancing at weddings (which we love to do) and fall in love with Yuzo Koshiro all over again.
This week’s topic is listener suggested, because “sad robots” sounds cool. Robots have such a hard time in video games. Often they’re tortured, and forced to fight their family, even their own creators.
How do we find such great video game tracks? Is it the luck of the draw? Is it lady-luck? I think it’s Pernell’s suave and sexy voice that calls out to great music like a siren song.
We got another great topic this week from one of our fantastic listeners! Well, we expanded on it a little, because there were some tracks we really wanted to play on the show 🙂 Our focus is on music outside of the action and drama, and instead on times where you’re encouraged to take a moment for yourself.
Boo! It’s that time of the year to thinking about spooky-scary things. Things like ghosts and goblins, draculas, wolfmen, and mad-mad-mad-mad-scientists! Let Rob and Pernell be your guides into the haunted house of video game music! Happy Halloween everyone!
This week your hosts listen to music from sky and air themed stages. These are parts of games that are not entirely about the sky, but these sections are in the clouds. Pernell tries to get his head around the realities of Little Nemo, and Rob channels his inner 90s RnB singer in what might be his favorite track of the year.
Rob and Pernell set aside their friendship and call each other out. It’s time to throw-down! Gutsman I choose you! This week we pit Mega Man Robot Master against Robot Master in a battle to the awesome!
Marvel games, super-80s colors, and adaptations of R-rated movies. That’s right, this week we’re listening to the sounds of composer Tim Follin!
Gears, robots, machinery! (machina yah?) It’s machine music for mechanical stages in video games! There’s singing! Dancing! Rob mentions Turbo Teen! Pernell pitches the Back To The Future reboot with Yuzo Koshiro instead of Chuck Berry! It’s a good time.
Who’s the boss!? No, we’re not talking Tony Danza. We’re talking the great boss fights and boss fight music of video games! It starts out all fun and games until the R&P brothers slowly get emotional talking about the all the bosses they’ve encountered. So make sure you’ve saved your game, stocked full of health potions, and get in on the fun! It’s music time.
Rob and Pernell are here to MELT YOUR FACES OFF! But they have to act quickly before they themselves melt into a puddle of video-game-music-goo. This summer we continue celebrating the changing of seasons with music for fire levels! We’re talking all things lava pits, flame throwers, and fire type Pokemon. Also, the air conditioning broke just before recording this episode, so enjoy it while it’s HOT!
