Yo Rob, FF7R has a lot of composers like most big games thesedays (even Ace Combat’s Keiki Kobayashi scored some tracks), but Masashi Hamauzu is one of the leading stars behind it! He did all of the first FF13, some on the sequels, and teamed up with Junya Nakano to help Uematsu on FF10, which I know you love. He really seems to love infusing a sci-fi flair to dramatic orchestras, the FF7R OST is absolutely amazing. I hope you step out of your comfort zone and dig into the game someday, it’s been a long time since I loved a modern FF this much!
I’m not totally with Pernell on FF8, I’m a defender, that said, I only beat it once and always fall off when I try to replay that. On the other hand I just wrapped up my 3rd or 4th run of the original FF7. I still think it blows FF8 away. lol, like Pernell was saying, the Materia system is so dang cool and they did a great job with it in the remake too.
